Stream Assessment
In 2004, Redstart began to explore stream geomorphology when it became clear that it was closely connected with forestry, land conservation, and had great potential as a tool for community engagement. Assessing stream geomorphology according to the protocols developed by Vermont River Management Program allows for the analysis of the stream's ecological function as well as the flood risk posed by it to human improvements such as buildings, bridges, and roads. Redstart works on a project basis in partnership with the RMP and community groups to conduct the assessments and create river corridor management plans. Currently, Restart is working with community groups on the Blood Brook, the White River, the Wells River, and the Waits River, as well as conducting a stream geomorphology and forestry project with the University of Vermont in Jericho, Vermont.
